Save the date - Great White Bird Trail exhibition

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the exhibition the Great White Bird Trail at the Broadhurst Gallery, Hazelhurst Art Centre, Gymea, 17-28 April 2020, opening Saturday 18 April 2-4 pm. Named in honour of the emigre British sculptor Michael Kitching, whose neon and stainless steel artwork floats in the International Terminal at Mascot. The sculpture was inspired by the First Australians' response to the sighting of the Endeavour, that it was "a great white bird" flying low over the water, that Kitching thought a fitting epithet for powered flight. Other themes of the exhibition and ride are: the life and times of Thomas Holt who at one point owned the Sutherland Shire, the Botany Bay Trail and Sydney Green Ring/Emerald City Trail, and invocations of kinetic sculpture based on the most efficient form of transport known - the human on a bicycle. Rides of the Great White Bird Trail will be conducted by ARTcycle Inc on the Sunday 19th and 26th of April, RSVP and ride details via the ARTcycle Meetup page.
